How to Apply

The Foundation administers grants in support of like-minded nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organizations and charities that are committed to serving underprivileged children, the homeless, and the elderly through mission-driven activities.  View a list of past grant recipients.

What We Fund

The Foundation is interested in specific projects and programs directly benefiting underprivileged children, the homeless, and the elderly. The most preferred applications are those that meet critical or basic needs of these groups.

  • At the time of application, nonprofit organizations must have a confirmation letter by the Internal Revenue Service of 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status;
  • Projects and programs must provide direct care, service, or treatment to underprivileged children, the homeless, or the elderly; and,
  • Preference will be given to organizations located in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area.

What We Don’t Fund

  • Private foundations or organizations that distribute money to recipients of their own choosing;
  • For-profit companies;
  • Individuals;
  • Organizations that promote discrimination of any kind;
  • Lobbying / political activity; and,
  • Organizations that do not have active 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status.

Additional Grant Criteria

  • Funds will only be distributed to organizations which can demonstrate that they have competent management with a history of delivering results in an effective and cost efficient manner.  Organization’s current needs, its budget and level of overhead expenses will be taken into consideration;
  • The recipients must have the ability and willingness to measure and report the results.  Documentation of the use of funds for their intended purpose will be required; and,
  • The Foundation will fund programs or projects which are designed to alleviate and address specific needs and causes the Foundation is supporting.  Funding will usually not be provided for general operating purposes.
